2 Fast 2 Furious is the 2003 sequel of The Fast and the Furious and the prequel to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It stars Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Eva Mendes, Devon Aoki and Ludacris; and was directed by John Singleton. The soundtrack was composed by David Arnold. The producers were Lee R. Mayes and Neal H. Moritz.

Paul Walker returns as former cop Brian O'Conner who teams up with his ex-con pal Roman Pearce (Tyrese). The duo transport a shipment of dirty money for shady Miami-based import-export dealer Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), while working with undercover agent Monica Fuentes (Mendes) to bring Verone down.

The total production budget of the film was approximately US$76 million, with estimated marketing costs of US$40 million. The "Tricked Out Edition" DVD release of The Fast and the Furious and the regular DVD release of 2 Fast 2 Furious include a short prelude video that bridges the gap between the two films. It contains no dialogue; instead, background music and sound effects play throughout. 

The prelude explains how Brian acquires his Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II BNR34 and makes his way to Florida as he runs from the FBI over letting Toretto escape at the end of the first film.

Plot:
After being caught in an impromptu street race in Miami, Brian is given a choice due to the events in the The Fast and the Furious movie; help US Customs take down Carter Verone and have his record wiped clean, or risk going to jail. Brian agrees, and enlists the help of Roman Pearce, a guy he grew up with in Barstow. They are helped by Monica, a Customs agent who has gone undercover and gained Verone's trust. Monica explains that Verone is trying to launder money out of the United States, and that he needs drivers to help him transport the money. Brian and Roman agree to help and bust Verone, and enlist the help of Brians new friends in Miami, namely Tej and Suki.
